How much does a yoga retreat cost? A realistic breakdown
Typical price bands for weekend, week-long and destination retreats, what is usually included, and the extras that catch people out.
5 min read
Retreat pricing looks arbitrary until you separate the room from the programme. Almost all of the variation is accommodation.
Typical bands
- Weekend retreat, shared room, domestic: roughly $400–$900 including meals and classes.
- Week-long domestic retreat centre: roughly $1,200–$2,500 shared, more for a private room.
- Week-long international (Costa Rica, Bali, Portugal): roughly $1,500–$3,500 excluding flights.
- Luxury or small-group destination retreats: $4,000 and up.
What is usually included
Accommodation, all meals, two daily classes and use of the space. Airport transfers sometimes. Excursions, massages, private sessions and alcohol usually not.
The extras people forget
- Flights and any domestic transfer at the far end.
- Travel insurance — essential for anything international.
- Teacher gratuity, where it is customary.
- Single-occupancy supplement, which can add 30–50%.
Where to save
Share a room, book shoulder season, and look at retreat centres that host multiple teachers rather than branded solo retreats. A retreat at a large centre in your own country delivers most of the benefit for half the money.
Common questions
- How much is a week-long yoga retreat?
- Commonly $1,200–$2,500 domestically for a shared room including meals and classes, and $1,500–$3,500 internationally before flights.
- Are meals included in a yoga retreat?
- Almost always. Most retreats include all meals, typically vegetarian, and accommodate dietary needs if you tell them in advance.
